Cutting Out Coffee? Feel Great With These Healthy Coffee Alternatives

For some, coffee is a necessity every morning. However, some are looking for healthier ways to get that pick me up these days, and that could be a good opportunity for your restaurant. Here are some coffee alternatives that you may want to add to your organic food menu.

Tea

This is the obvious choice. There are plenty of great tea options out there and many go great with milk or cream, just like coffee, but there are two particular coffee alternatives that we have in mind. Dandelion tea has been rising rapidly in popularity recently, and part of the reason for that is its similarity to coffee. It smells like coffee and even has a similar mouth feel, so it’s not that big of an adjustment if you’re trying to drop coffee. Matcha tea is another great alternative. It’s fresh and earthy, and it’s full of antioxidants and other good stuff.

Mushroom Coffee and Teas

Mushroom coffee is prepared just like regular coffee is. It tastes similar and has a similar texture too. The difference is the lower caffeine content and the presence of more antioxidants. If you’re looking for a more natural energy boost or regular coffee seems to be interfering with your sleep or triggering anxiety, the lower caffeine content of a mushroom coffee or tea might be more to your liking.

Chicory Root Coffee

Chicory root coffee is another alternative for diners who like the feel of coffee, but want something a little different. This beverage contains plenty of fiber, vitamins, and prebiotics. It can have a nuttier flavor than coffee, but it also nicely complements the flavor of many coffee varieties. It can be mixed with regular coffee and the results are quite tasty.

Matcha Energy Drinks

Matcha teas are a great alternative to coffee, but if you’re not a tea drinker there is another option. Multiple brands have introduced matcha energy drinks in recent years. These are meant to be a healthy alternative to caffeinated beverages, providing drinkers with a natural energy boost and plenty of the antioxidants you need to stay healthy and stave off inflammation. These drinks are also lightly carbonated, so they might be good for anyone trying to drop unhealthy, sugary sodas from their diet too.

Caffeinated Seltzer

Seltzer has always been a healthy beverage choice. It has zero calories, no sugar, and no unhealthy sweeteners to speak of. Beverage makers have taken note of this flavored beverage and its popularity, so now we’re even seeing caffeinated varieties come to the market. If you’re looking for a zero-calorie beverage that will refresh you and perk you up, caffeinated seltzer is a good option.

Kombucha

Kombucha is essentially fermented black tea. It contains a lot of good stuff, including probiotics, acetic acids, and antioxidants. More studies need to be done, but there’s also evidence that consumption of kombucha can help boost the immune system.
