Singapore

Singapore is a very densely populated sovereign city-state and country in Southeast Asia. The official languages are English, Malay, Mandarin Chinese, and Tamil. It is a highly diverse population. The terrain is not very high or arable, and urbanization has had a negative impact on rainforests. The climate is considered to be of the tropical rainforest variety. Native animal species include the tiger, the kanchil, and the lesser false vampire bat. The mainstays of the very free economy are industry and services.

You can tour the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple in Little India, dedicated to the goddess of death Kali. There are many colorful, graphic images. Hike or bike through the untouched urban rainforest of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, on the highest peak in the country.

Singaporean cuisine is highly diverse. Rice, noodles, and breads like naan are popular starchy staples. Typical vegetables include mushrooms, greens, and radishes. Fish, duck, chicken, and pork are commonly eaten. Roti prata is a crepelike pancake that can be topped with egg, cheese, chocolate, masala, durian, or even ice cream. Try ayam buah keluak, a Peranakan dish with chicken and Southeast Asian black nuts. You can find organic Chinese and Singaporean food and many vegetarian options at Indian, Japanese, Thai, and other restaurants. There are also a number of juice bars and health food stores. Chill out with a refreshing beverage like bubble tea or a lemon barley drink!
