Serbia

Serbia is a Balkan country which was once a region in Yugoslavia. The official language is Serbian, which unlike any other European language is written in Cyrillic and Latin alphabets, but minority tongues include Rusyn (of East Slavic origins). Serbia is defined as a secular state with religious freedom. It has an Eastern Orthodox majority, and Catholic and Muslim minorities. The terrain includes plains, hills, and mountains. Serbia has a variety of climate conditions including Mediterranean and continental. Native animal species include the chamois, the steppe polecat, and the yellow-necked field mouse. Mainstays of the economy include services, agriculture, and industry. If you like museums, check out Belgrade’s interactive Nikola Tesla Museum, dedicated to the late, great engineer. Also in the capital, Marshal Tito’s grave is a must-see. The Belgrade Underground is an amazing sight, full of bunkers and caves. In Ni┼í, the Tower of Skulls is an imposing, morbid memorial to a battle held against the Turks.
