Frequently asked questions

Below are common questions and their answers. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to connect with us.

What is OrganicRestaurants.com?

OrganicRestaurants.com is a digital platform that connects people looking for restaurants that use organic ingredients with the restaurants that offer them. We help people to distinguish just how organic a restaurant is through our very own organic meter and organic approach statement that helps tell the story of each restaurant on our platform.

Why should I use OrganicRestaurants.com

If you tend to eat organic food in general, outside of restaurants, then using OrganicRestaurants.com is a great way to complement your overall organic food experience by finding restaurants that use organic ingredients too. It’s free to use for everyone, and by signing up, you can start saving your favorite places, writing reviews, uploading photos, and more. Additional features are always in the works for our community of organic foodies!

What if I manage our restaurant's website or marketing and want to claim our listing?

We'd love to have you claim your listing for free so you can fully edit and manage it. And once you claim your listing, you'll be able to verify or promote it by sponsoring your city or neighboring towns to get more eyes & website traffic to your listing & website. Learn more at our For Restaurants page of how we help restaurants connect with the organic-minded consumers that are looking for them!

Isn’t it challenging to be a fully organic restaurant?

It sure is. However, at the same time, we don’t want to discount all those restaurants that use at least some organic ingredients. For this reason, we developed our own Organic Meter, which enables each restaurant to have their own score. The score will communicate their level of organic ingredient usage and ultimately gives restaurant-goers more options when finding their ideal restaurant. Some restaurants have high scores, which represent their commitment to using primarily organic ingredients, while others have lower scores. All restaurants have to start somewhere, and that’s why we want to help give visibility to any restaurant that uses at least some organic ingredients, to help them attract more traffic, and then, in turn, help those restaurants increase their use of organic ingredients as they see more validated traffic coming in.

What's the Organic Approach statement?

The organic statement is a way for restaurants to share their approach to how they use organic ingredients.  It could be as simple as sharing that during specific seasons of the year, that the restaurant uses certain organic ingredients or it could share the names of brands or certifying organic organizations that the restaurant uses. Think about what restaurant customers say if they were at a restaurant and asked the waiter or chef how they approach using organic ingredients. Whatever that general statement is, that's what generally is shared through a restaurant's organic approach statement.

What's the Organic Meter?

Our organic meter is a simple way to help communicate to our website users and community just how organic a restaurant is. Quite simply, the more organic ingredients used within a menu, the higher the score, and the lower the number of organic ingredients used, the lower the score. For any restaurant listing on OrganicRestaurants.com, if they have it, you’ll see an organic meter level number.
